Canadian Canoe Pilgrimage of Reconciliation: The Canadian Canoe Pilgrimage of Reconciliation with Native Peoples, composed of 30 persons, organized by the Jesuits of Canada, left Midland by canoe last week and will be gradually making their way to Montreal following a trajectory similar to that of the first Jesuits to arrive in Canada. Two voyageur-style big canoes will be paddling through Georgian Bay, the French River, Lake Nipissing, the Mattawa River, the Ottawa River, the St. Lawrence River to reach their destination in Montreal on August 15. They have had a stop over in Mattawa, in Rapides-des-Joachims and will be stopping on the shores of the St. Joseph Sisters’ Motherhouse on the afternoon and evening night of Sunday, August 6th, before heading to stop-overs in Portage-du-Fort and Arnprior and further east. All are welcome to meet the crew at the Motherhouse on Sunday afternoon and evening.

Notes from Fr. Tim
1) We extend our sympathy and prayers to the family of Lorna Brazeau whose funeral was recently celebrated in Sheenboro. Please remember Lorna and her family in your prayers.

2) Last Sunday we welcomed Madelyn Grace Murdock, daughter of Chris Murdock and Melanie O’Brien into the Catholic faith in Chapeau. We pray that she will grow ever more deeply in love of her faith and family in the years to come.

3) As we enter the final few weeks of the school summer holiday schedule it’s a good time to renew our commitment to pray for the welfare and safety of all our students, young and old. Remember that just because Peter gets to walk on water in this weekend’s gospel doesn’t mean that our kids can do the same so we need to keep an eye out for their health and welfare!

4) Congratulations to Mary Louise (Lulu) Lair and Matthew Juliusson whose wedding was celebrated in Chapeau this weekend. May God grant them a long and happy marriage together.

5) Attention Chapeau Parishioners: Please be generous in helping to support the upcoming Parish Supper by making a donation towards defraying the cost of the meat. There are envelopes available in the church pews for this purpose.

6) The handmade quilts which are the top prize for the St. Alphonsus and St. Joseph’s Parish draws are on display in each church. They are there to act as an incentive to both buy and sell tickets. Please remember that we ask every family to either purchase or sell no less than 10 books of tickets to ensure the success of each draw. I thank you in advance for your cooperation.
